Hurt Locker

So I wanted to do a review of The Hurt Locker mostly because of all the mixed reviews I was hearing from other people. To be honest my significant other thought it sucked :S DONT ask me how he thought that, he just did. The thing about this film is that it isn't your typical holloywood war movie with loud noises, bombs blowing up and dramatic music everytime a character turns the corner. Its a simple film about a specific type of soldier, the type you don't really pay much attention to or even know much about. If I'm honest.....I didn't even know they had groups of soldiers that just went around disarming bombs over there. The film is great in my opinion, its simple and you have to respect it for that, no magic just raw emotion and action. There are some scenes that make you cringe at the thought and trying to put yourself in the soldiers shoes is impossible, these guys handle pressure like pro's. This movie is simple, well put together and beautiful in its honesty.

Even still despite its 9 academy award nominations (all well deserved!), I don't know about "Best Picture" nominations.......it was a great film.....but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the best....BUT you should still def. go see it!!!

Anyone know what "Hurt Locker" is meant to stand for? I have my opinions and guesses....do you? ;)

**********
Ah yes, Coyote writing in again. I've been on an extended break, but I'm back at it. I figure I would review this small-time flick that made a huge splash last year (and will surely make a bigger splash after the Oscars are over). The film, in its most basic summary, is about a group of soldiers in the Middle East who are assigned the task of detonating bombs. The film follows their trials and tribulations, and the film opts for mounting, gripping tension as opposed to big, loud shootouts, and that's precisely what makes this war drama unique and highly memorable. The film perfectly explores the emotional instability a soldier can experience, and provides an arguably more realistic vision of war. Like Phoenix mentioned, this movie is simple, raw and just plain honest.

Verdict: See it.
